Just In 1965 356C LHD Cabriolet
Due to go into the workshop in 2025 to undergo a full restoration.
The Kardex shows it was sold by Hahn Group who were an agent for Porsche Stuttgart on 08/03/1965 to a Mr Robert Kohlhammer, who owned one of the largest media companies in Germany today.
The Kardex also shows that the Porsche Factory maintained the car from 09/03/1965 till 04/11/1968 for over 3 years.
The Agent Hahn of Stuttgart started as a small motor repair garage in 1991 and becoming an agent for Porsche in 1953. The company now boasts 35 different branches in the motor trade and boast 100 Years in the motor trade
The cabriolet went from Europe to the USA with little history as yet, but it has a Minnesota Title and registration No NKJ316. Last registered in December 1988.
The Customs & Export 386 import certificate shows it arrived at the UK from the USA in April 1988. I’m sure there is lots more history to uncover in Germany and the USA as it’s still early days.
The Kardex shows this Cabriolet built by Porsche making it one of the last 274th built, with matching numbers, engine, gearbox, Painted in Bali Blue and Red Leather interior.
This car has been stored in the UK for over 30 years and was stripped and had some very poor metal work done and resprayed. It was never put back together, only all parts were carefully wrapped and packed away. Because of the owners age he couldn’t finish the job as intended for his retirement.
We have now had it dry blasted totally clean, this shows all the poor areas. It’s now on our rollover jig frame ready for a full and detailed bodyshell Restoration, this includes all seams, folds, welds done correctly using as many genuine factory panels as possible.
We then Lead fill all necessary gapping as Factory, then using today’s modern primers and sealers, under seal and topcoat in its original colour Bali Blue. This will make a first-rate bodyshell.
This car came with a lot of its original bright work, not perfect but in very good condition (not reproduction), also a tool kit and jack, 5 x silver powder coated wheels and new Pirelli tyres.
We will fit this up with the following,
New German Square Weave carpets
New Rubber floor mats.
New Y’nZ’s Wiring Loom.
New Red Leather interior.
New Front Windscreen.
New cabriolet Roof Cover / Headliner.
The Suspension and steering will be stripped, overhauled and powder coated etc.
Although the engine was re-built some years ago back, we will totally strip and overhaul as necessary, fitted with its European exhaust system.
